ACC Saturday Football Game Day Thread: November 2, 2013
A big day for ACC football, culminating with the biggest game of the year so far: Florida State (7-0) vs. Miami (7-0). The spread for this game is significant. Miami will have its hands full. But this Hurricane team beat Florida in a dogfight. Miami has won ugly this year.
Other games:
- Noon: Virginia Tech v Boston College
- 12:30 pm: Syracuse v Wake Forest
- 12:30 pm: North Carolina v North Carolina State
- 3:30 pm: Clemson v Virginia
- 7:00 pm: Georgia Tech v Pitt
In closing… take a look at this crazy image, courtesy of ESPN & FoxSportsCarolinas:

Really? This is the best image that they could use????
The teams with must win games: Syracuse (for bowl hopes), Clemson (for BCS hopes), Virginia Tech (to keep ACC title game hopes alive). Anyone else in must win territory?
They’re not there yet, but UNC is closing in on “Must Win” territory in order to salve their season and get to bowl eligibility. The tarheels are 2-5 with 5 games remaining (NCSt., UVA, Pitt, Old Dominion, Duke) while not exactly Murderer’s Row, they don’t have much margin for error here on out.
Go ‘Cuse!
Just cannot move the ball.
pretty much.
fortunately for Syracuse, their D is keeping WtF’s offense in check.
Elsewhere in the league; NC St. leads UNC 10-0 and BC is up on VPI; Tech is marching up the field.
Syracuse has no pass offense.
no argument here. What adjustments in the play calling would you make? Switch to power running game and forget passing? Option?
Did Estime even look back for that pass?
Since there is no offense in this game, let’s see what else is going on around the league: VPI ties-it up 7-all with 4:29 left in the 2nd QTR; UNC trying to mount a comeback, 10-7 with 2:39 left in the 1st QTR.

Nice pass/catch by Hunt & West.
If you missed the first half of the SU / WtF game…you haven’t missed anything except very boring and bad football.

Virginia Tech 10
Boston College 10
2:48 2nd Qtr
North Carolina 21
North Carolina State 16
Half
Wake Forest 0

North Carolina may go bowling. Schedule is favorable.
Syracuse puts together a nice 14-play, 75 yard drive to take the lead 7-0 midway through the 3rd Qtr.
Back-to-back highlight reel plays for SU. Starting with a tipped-ball/interception by Isiah Johnson with an incredible diving/stretch to bring the ball in.
The very next play was a Jerome Smith handoff to West on the reverse, who passes on the run to a wide-open Brisley Estime in the endzone. Touchdown 6 points.
Where have these plays been all year?

Boston College 34
3:18 3rd Qtr
North Carolina 21
North Carolina State 19
15:00 4th Qtr

Syracuse 13
Finally some offense in the SU/WtF game as Syracuse has scored 13 unanswered points and are back in the redzone following a 57 yard rush by Prince Tyson-Gulley.
Final
Virginia Tech 27
Boston College 34
Boston college is legit bowl worthy.
Another game in the books. Syracuse held Wake the Forest scoreless and improves to 4-4 on the season. With games remaining against Maryland, Pitt, FSU, and Boston College the Orange have a shot (albeit long shot) to get to 6 wins and Bowl Eligibility.
Miami came to play…7-7 afte 1Q.
Just turned on after halftime, FSU dominating.
