National Signing Day
Today coaches all across the college basketball universe will be hovered over their fax machines waiting in anticipation for their letters of intent. After all the time they have spent recruiting they will get to see the fruit of their labor. Some will fill their scholarships while others will continue the process during the spring signing period. The fall signing period should be busy for the Louisville Cardinals and their ACC brothern.
The Cards have 3 commitments as they look to fill the holes they have in the post. Expected to sign are the #11 SF Shaqquan Aaron, the #14 PF Jaylen Johnson and the #9 C Chinanu Onuaku. All three are four star prospects acording to Scout.com. The Cards looked poised to sign a top 5 class but two key PG decommitments dropped their class to #10.
The Cards are also in the hunt for the #6 PF and top 30 overall prospect Jonah Bolden. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Rick Pitino pull another miracle and find another diamond in the rough like he did with Russ Smith, Gourgi Dieng and Montrezl Harrell. With Smith now a senior and with Kevin Ware and Juco Chris Jones both juniors, it would be nice to sign a guard in this class as well.
The Cardinals women team is also expected to sign a top 5 class coming off of their national runner up finish last season. This season they are ranked #5 and are 2-0 going into their showdown with the 15th ranked LSU Tigers tonight at the KFC Yum Center.
The ACC looks strong in the Scout.com top 25. North Carolina is ranked #2 with two 5 star prospects and a 4 star as well. All three are top 30 overall. Louisville is next at #10. Syracuse is listed at #13 and are followed by NC Sate at #14. Miami and Wake Forest round out the top 25 for the ACC ranked 21 and 25.
The ACC will sign nearly 20 of Scouts.com top 100 all together with Duke, Virginia, Georgia Tech and Clemson also with commitments.
