Mel Kiper’s Mock Draft 2.0 and the ACC
Mel Kiper has his latest mock draft up (version 2.0) and it is notable for ACC inclusions. Not surprisingly, he has Jameis Winston (Florida State) as the #1 pick and headed to Tampa. But here are his other ACC projections…
You have to go all the way down to #12 before the next projected ACC player…. Devante Parker (Louisville) to Cleveland. That actually is a decent fit. Regardless of who is QBing the Browns, Cleveland needs more playmakers.
At #16, Kiper has big Ereck Flowers of Miami headed to the Titans to shore up the offensive line.
Cleveland and Florida State show up again, as Kiper has Eddie Goldman taking his defensive tackle talents from Tallahassee to Lake Erie at #19.
Down the road in Cincinnati, Kiper has the Bengals using #21 on Vic Beasley from Clemson.
Panthers to Panthers, as Kiper has Carolina taking Pittsburgh’s offensive tackle TJ Clemmings at #26.
And then the final two first round picks with ACC allegiance are both from the Hurricanes… LB Denzel Perryman at #28 to the Broncos and WR Philip Dorsett at #31 to the Seahawks.
All in all, that is 8 of 32 first round picks projected to come from the ACC. Not too shabby. The Big 10 also has 8 on the list, while the SEC and Pac-12 have 6. The Big East (1) and Big XII (3) have the final four projected slots. Interestingly, Florida schools are responsible for 7 of the projections, confirming what everyone already knows.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? Did Mel Kiper leave out any deserving ACC first rounders?
