A Surprising Fan Arrested for Vandalizing Howard’s Rock

Duke vs. North Carolina.  Syracuse vs. Georgetown.  Alabama vs. Auburn.  Ohio State vs. Michigan.  Kentucky vs Louisville the NCAA Rules.  There are plenty of rivalries in college sports.  So, when some idiot decided to vandalize Clemson’s famous Howard’s Rock, the obvious thought was a misdirected, boorish South Carolina fan with far too much alcohol within the bloodstream.  But an arrest was just made and guess what… well … you’ll never guess who the alleged vandal is a fan of…

Clemson.

Yep.  A Clemson fan allegedly vandalized his own school’s iconic image.

ESPN is reporting that a gentleman named Micah Rogers, from North Carolina, was arrested in relation to the vandalism.  The report noted:

Hendricks said Rogers does not have any official ties to Clemson, but he does have a Tigers sticker on the glass of his truck and there was Clemson memorabilia in his home.

So, yeah, he does not have any official ties.  But he is obviously a Clemson fan.

If the allegations are true, this would make him one of the worst fans in the history of fandom.  After all, the vilified Steve Bartman damaged (by a wholly overstated degree) the Chicago Cubs chances of making the World Series in a split-second decision.  It’s not like he poisoned the ivy or drew a milk mustache on the statue of Harry Caray.  The latter acts would have been premeditated.  Which is even worse, even if the reason is too many beers.

Moreover, it’s not like Clemson has done anything wrong lately.  The football team is as good as it has been in years.  The basketball team is no more or less relevant.  There were no coaching changes.

It just does not make sense.

Then again, not everything does.

Seems like an extreme way to get a souvenir.
