North Carolina Women Win Capital One Cup!

Congratulations to the North Carolina Tar Heels!  Their women have claimed the Capital One Cup!

The official standings of the Capital One Cup are as follows:

  1. North Carolina, 140 pts
  2. Stanford, 129.5
  3. Oregon, 112 pts
  4. Texas, 92
  5. Penn State, 89
  6. Florida, 85
  7. Oklahoma, 74
  8. USC & Kansas, 72
  9. (tie)
  10. Connecticut, 71
  11. Duke, 55
  12. Texas A&M, 54
  13. Tennessee, 52
  14. Cal, 50
  15. UCLA, 47

Notre Dame, Maryland, and Syracuse all finished in the top 25.

To get there, North Carolina finished 1st in soccer, 2nd in field hockey, 4th in tennis, and 1st in lacrosse.  See complete results here.

The competition for the men is ongoing, with baseball still to be played.  Duke, Syracuse, Louisville, and Notre Dame are currently in the top 10.

For now, let’s give credit to North Carolina, its athletic director Bubba Cunningham, the athletic department, and its female student athletes.  The Capital One Cup is something that they can be very proud of.

    Wow…the B1G only had 1 team (PSU) finish in the Top-10 and currently only have 2 on the men’s side (Indiana and Michigan). That’s going to make it much harder for their fans to argue for Big Ten supremacy over at Frank the Tank.
