Conference Conversation Topics
Here is a quick comparison of the conference conversation topics on blogs and message boards throughout the Internet today:
ACC:
- Football: FSU–champions Again! Can they repeat?
- Football depth on the increase with Miami rounding into form, and Louisville coming on board.
- Basketball: The big 4 of Duke, Syracuse, UNC, and Louisville… going to be awesome. National championships are inevitable.
- Lacrosse–deepest conference by far.
- Notre Dame is nice to have around.
SEC:
- Football–Bama, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, A&M, Georgia, Missouri, Florida… so very very good at football. Which team will win it all?
- Nick Saban
- Basketball–Kentucky and Florida–will they get #1 seeds and make the Final Four?
B1G:
- BTN and other TV contracts: generating plenty of money!
- CIC: generating plenty of money!
- Oh, and we added Rutgers and Moneyland…errr Maryland.
- Did we mention how much money we were making?
- We have top notch wrestling!
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. The Big 10… first in money and nothing else. See here.

Randy Edsall–Good Riddance
Randy Edsall’s career record at Maryland was 13-24, including a 6-18 conference record. Last season’s team lost to Marshall in the Military Bowl, essentially a home game. One would expect Edsall to be fairly humble by now, right? Wrong. “As a football coach, I feel better,” Edsall said to applause. “Because I’m going to a football conference; I’m not in a basketball conference anymore.” There you have it… someone who could not succeed in a conference, taking a shot at the quality of conference he could not succeed in. Of course, the conference he left had the reigning national champion. Needless to say, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Penn State will give the minimally-accomplished, maximum ego Edsall plenty of challenges.
So… all the Confidential has to say is this… good luck in the Big Ten, Randy. You will need it. In the meantime, how does that foot taste?
