Wake Forest Football: The Over/Under

This article is the first in a series of articles in which the Confidential selects the over/under for football wins in 2014.  We’ll take a cursory look at the schedule and determine what we think is the point where folks will struggle to select “over” or “under.”  We hope people will share their comments as to “why” they are going over/under.  If you disagree with our over/under choice, of course, feel free to let us know too.  The first team up: Wake Forest.  We are going with an over/under of 4.5.

Likely losses: FSU, Clemson, Louisville, Va Tech, @ Duke (5)

Likely wins: ULM, Gardner- Webb, Army (3)

Toss-ups: Utah State (on the road), Syracuse (home), BC (home), NC State (road) (4)

Win all the toss-ups, 7-5.  Ultimate upside?  9 wins.  The downside?  It’s not like ULM on the road is a gimme.

Anyway, splitting the toss-ups gets us to a 5-7 record for Wake Forest for 2014.  We think that the toss-ups are harder than they look.  We will slide the over-under to 4.5 and make Demon Deacons fans make the case for why we should find 5 or more wins, rather than 4 or fewer wins.
