NCAA… Getting it Right?

The NCAA will be implementing new rules for college basketball.  While the sporting world awaits refbots, the rule changes will help the games and the officals.  The womens’ game will now be featuring a 10-second backcourt rule, which is fairly self-explanatory.  But there will be several changes to the mens’ game.

Look, this is not even news.  Once it is announced, it will just be the fulfillment of what has been speculated for weeks.  And it also makes complete sense.  The Pinstripe Bowl will matchup the Big 10 and the ACC.

Miami & Lack of Control

The Miami athletic department is having to answer to the NCAA regarding its lack of institutional control.  As a reminder, the NCAA contends that Miami booster Nevin Shapiro “provided $170,000 in benefits to players, recruits, coaches and others between 2002-2010.”  So Miami is faced with the lack of institutional control allegations.

Capital One Cup Criticism

Yesterday, we shared the exciting news of the Capital One Cup victory by the North Carolina women.  But did you know that not everyone likes the Capital One Cup?  Indeed, fans of the Big 10 (remember, the Confidential’s motto for the Big 10 is “first in money and nothing else”) are unhappy that the Capital One Cup (gasp!) assigns different points to different sports.  Here is our response to that…
